The incident occurred during the night of April 5–6, 2026, at approximately 1:50 a.m. Police received a report about a car traveling from Szklarska Poręba toward Piechowice. According to witnesses, the vehicle was driving on punctured tires, and parts were falling off it while it was moving.
Officers quickly located the vehicle at one of the filling stations in Piechowice. What they found at the scene was extremely disturbing.
A 49-year-old Czech citizen was sitting behind the wheel. Police determined that she had come from Jablonec on a trip. The smell of alcohol was clearly detectable from the woman. A breathalyzer test showed nearly 3‰ of alcohol in her system.
The vehicle’s technical condition was appalling. The car was missing two tires and was moving solely on its rims, posing a serious threat to other road users. Driving in such conditions could have caused a serious accident at any moment.
The woman was detained and taken to a police holding facility. After the necessary procedures are completed, she will be brought before the court, where her case will be heard under an expedited procedure.
The car was secured and towed to a parking lot.
Police once again appeal for prudence and responsibility on the roads. Intoxicated drivers pose a huge threat not only to themselves but also to other road users. Any decision to drive under the influence of alcohol can have tragic consequences.
