A 37-year-old man took advantage of an opportunity when the driver left the keys in the ignition. The perpetrator stole a vehicle worth PLN 60,000 and then took two women in it. The victim's attempt to recover the car was unsuccessful.
The duty officer at the Bolesławiec unit took immediate action after receiving the report. The police station: – Remaining in constant contact with the victim, he immediately sent patrols to the scene and the perpetrator's escape route.
District officers from Bolesławiec successfully blocked the escape route and arrested three people who were in the vehicle.
The driver turned out to be a 37-year-old man well known to the Police and convicted many times. The man was charged with four offenses in total, including vehicle theft and driving while intoxicated. (At the time of his arrest, he had nearly 1 per mille of alcohol in his system. A drug test was also positive).
He will also be held responsible for the theft of electricity (several days earlier, police officers discovered an illegal connection to the installation at his property) and shoplifting. In March of this year, he stole perfume worth more than PLN 800 in total.
The officers conclude: – He committed all of the offenses while a repeat offender, which entails a more severe sentence of up to 7.5 years in prison.
