At the beginning of March this year, a man reported to the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica and notified officers that his Ford, worth PLN 6,000, had been stolen. – As he reported, along with the vehicle he also lost a wallet containing documents and payment cards, as well as a mobile phone worth PLN 2,000 – reports Commissioner Jagoda Ekiert of the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters.

The officers immediately took action, treating the report very seriously. The spokesperson: – The officers analyzed various scenarios, checked the available information and carried out operational activities. However, significant discrepancies emerged at an early stage.

What did the investigators establish?

On March 1, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the same vehicle was involved in a road incident. Commissioner J. Ekiert:

The driver most likely failed to adjust his speed to the traffic conditions and hit a parked Mercedes, then left the scene, abandoning his vehicle.

Further actions and a detailed analysis of the collected evidence enabled the police to link the two incidents. The evidence gathered left no doubt as to the actual course of events.

The outcome? Police: – As a result, the man who reported his vehicle stolen was charged with making a false report and giving false testimony. He admitted to committing the offense, which carries a penalty of up to 8 years in prison.
