The incident occurred on March 6, shortly before 10:00 p.m. As the reader told us:

People living in Łaziska do not care about the animals’ safety or provide proper safeguards, which is why domestic animals (cats and dogs) run onto the main Łaziska–Warta Bolesławiecka road.

They added that on the day in question, “the cat ran under the wheels, causing an accident.” They also noted: “The car was destroyed.” They further emphasized:

This is not the first time these animals have gone onto the road. It is clear that they are someone else’s cats, and unfortunately one of them ran into the street and caused damage.

Bolesławiec police confirmed to us that the driver had indeed “run over a cat that ran onto the road.” Fortunately, no one was injured.

What can be done in this situation?

In such a situation, residents can primarily report the problem to the municipality, which is responsible, among other things, for safety on local roads. Warning signs informing drivers about animals on the road could be installed, and animal owners could be reminded of the need to secure them properly. Dog and cat owners should ensure that their animals do not go onto a busy road on their own, for example by fencing their property or using other safeguards.

If incidents involving animals running onto the road continue to occur, residents can also report the matter to the police.

The response of the local community is also important—sharing information about the danger and taking joint action can help reduce the risk of further dangerous incidents on the road.
