On Sunday, 8 March the changes to the timetable come into effect. Trains will stop at the new Śniadowo–Stara Stacja station in Podlaskie Voivodeship. Electrification of the line on the Giżycko–Korsze section is coming to an end – carriers plan to use electric traction from 1 April. The timetable also includes the most convenient connections for travellers, as well as the continuation of work on railway lines.

The timetable adjustment will be in force from 8 March to 13 June this year. PLK SA, in cooperation with the carriers, has planned the connections to make the best possible use of the railway infrastructure’s potential while ensuring contractors appropriate conditions for the continued execution of the work. The changes introduced enable passenger and freight services to operate simultaneously, as well as investment and maintenance works that improve travel comfort, accessibility and safety.

Lower Silesia

We plan to begin work on railway lines that are attractive to tourists. In mid-March, work will start on the Kłodzko Nowe–Kudowa‑Zdrój route, on the section between Polanica‑Zdrój and Kudowa‑Zdrój. At the beginning of April, renovation will begin on the Jelenia Góra–Szklarska Poręba Górna line. From 26 April to 15 May, changes to transport services will also affect the Szklarska Poręba Górna–Harrachov section because of work carried out by the Czech side. Due to the extensive scope of the work on three sections, carriers will provide replacement bus services. The work will improve the lines’ parameters and increase their capacity.

Podlaskie and Warmian-Masurian Voivodeships

From 9 March, travellers will already be able to use part of the new station on the Ostrołęka–Łapy line in Podlaskie Voivodeship. Its name is Śniadowo–Stara Stacja, taken from the neighbouring locality. A ramp and part of the surface will be available to travellers, but it is still a construction site. At the same time, due to work on the line from the station to Ostrołęka, replacement bus services will operate on this section until 19 April.

In Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, on the Giżycko–Korsze section, we plan to complete the electrification work, allowing electric trains to run on the line. Thus, the entire Ełk–Korsze railway line will be available to passenger trains powered by electric traction. Carriers plan to use electric traction from 1 April. Better access to rail in this part of the region, a smaller environmental impact of the infrastructure and shorter journeys between Ełk and Olsztyn are the most important results of the work on line no. 38.

Thanks to work on the railway network, trains will travel faster

The timetable adjustment allows passengers to benefit from the results of the work and carriers to adapt the best possible offer for travellers. Railway investments and maintenance works require changes to the timetable.

West Pomeranian Voivodeship

Extensive modernization work has begun on line no. 404 between Białogard and Kołobrzeg, improving the safety and efficiency of traffic. Once completed, passenger train speeds will increase from 100 to 120 km/h, shortening travel times by up to 5 minutes for regional trains and 8 minutes for long-distance services.

The main works began on 1 March and will continue until 30 June 2026. Due to their scope, train traffic on the single-track line has been suspended. Replacement bus services have been introduced between Białogard and Kołobrzeg for Polregio and PKP Intercity trains. Some trains are running on a diverted route via Koszalin.

Podkarpackie Voivodeship. As part of the revitalization of line no. 108 Jasło–Nowy Zagórz, work continues to provide the railway route with a better standard. Another stage of work on the longer Krosno–Sanok section will begin on 16 March, resulting in changes to the timetable. During the work, replacement bus services will be introduced and train traffic will be reorganized on individual sections. The investment will increase speeds (up to 120 km/h for passenger trains), shorten the journey from Rzeszów to Nowy Zagórz by approximately 25 minutes, and improve travel comfort and safety. In addition, five new stations will be built (Jasło Sobniów, Krosno Huta, Krosno Guzikówka, Krosno Południowe, Zagórz Przemysłowy), increasing rail accessibility for local residents.

Masovian Voivodeship

Modernization work will begin on the Tłuszcz–Ostrołęka section, including the construction and reconstruction of platforms in Ostrołęka, Pasieki, Przetycz, Wyszków and Dalekie. The modernization also includes safety improvements – 28 railway-road crossings will be equipped with automatic crossing signals. Once the work is complete, passenger train speeds may be increased to 120 km/h. Due to the work, replacement bus services will be introduced from the end of April until December 2026. Significant disruptions will also occur on the Warszawa Wawer–Otwock section, where train traffic will be completely suspended in April during key works and replaced by bus services.

Łódź Voivodeship

After 8 March, work involving the replacement of sleepers and rails, track adjustment and overhead line maintenance will continue between Koluszki and Częstochowa. The aim of the investment is to shorten travel time by 10 minutes. Train traffic on parts of the line will continue to operate on a single track. As a result, some long-distance trains will run on diverted routes, including via the CMK, while some regional trains will be cancelled or run on shortened routes.

The modernization of Tomaszów Mazowiecki station is also progressing. The investment will create better travel conditions, including towards Łódź, Radom and Kielce. There will be new, higher platforms and an underpass. Due to the construction of a pedestrian tunnel beneath the tracks, travellers have limited access to trains – one platform edge is available.

Greater Poland

Positive changes are also progressing in the region. In Oborniki, an additional span of the railway bridge over the Warta can already be seen; together with the new passing loop in Parkowo, it will allow more trains to run between Poznań and Piła. The scope of the work requires temporary changes to train traffic: from 8 to 26 March, buses will replace trains on the Oborniki–Rogoźno section. We are continuing to modernize the line from Ostrów Wielkopolski to Grabowno in Lower Silesia and also, without significant changes to journeys, improve the parameters of the important route between Poznań and Zbąszynek to increase freight train speeds.

Opole Voivodeship

In the Opole region, work continues between Opole and Częstochowa, resulting in faster journeys on the Opole–Częstochowa–Warsaw line. We are also beginning an investment on the Opole–Kluczbork railway line. The extensive scope of these tasks requires replacement bus services on the Opole Główne–Lubliniec and Opole Główne–Kluczbork sections. Once the work is complete, travellers will reach the country’s and voivodeship’s capitals faster.

Silesian Voivodeship

In Silesian Voivodeship, we are carrying out the largest railway investments in history. At the Katowice railway junction, additional tracks are being built to separate long-distance and agglomeration traffic. New stations will improve access to rail, while the reconstruction of engineering structures will improve safety for railway and road traffic. The tasks are also being carried out on the Tychy–Goczałkowice and Zabrzeg–Zebrzydowice sections. The work includes Gliwice Łabędy station and the Pszczyna–Żory railway line.

Due to the reconstruction of the Katowice railway junction, selected PKP Intercity trains will continue to be routed from Gliwice to Mysłowice via Bytom, bypassing Katowice. Replacement bus services operate on the Katowice–Sosnowiec Dańdówka section. Services to Lubliniec and Chorzew Siemkowice depart from Chorzów Batory, which can be reached by other trains or ZTM trams. Koleje Śląskie trains on the Katowice–Oświęcim–Katowice route continue to run on a shortened section between Katowice and Mysłowice. Selected trains have also been shortened on the following routes: Katowice–Tychy Lodowisko (between Katowice and Tychy), Katowice–Wisła / Cieszyn (between Katowice and Czechowice‑Dziedzice), and Katowice–Rybnik (between Katowice and Katowice Ligota / Piotrowice / Mikołów). Some services have been cancelled between Gliwice and Dąbrowa Górnicza Ząbkowice. Cieszyn–Czechowice‑Dziedzice–Cieszyn services via Zebrzydowice are operated by bus.

Lesser Poland and Świętokrzyskie Voivodeships

In Lesser Poland and Świętokrzyskie, modernization of line no. 8 is underway on several sections, including Kraków Główny–Tunel, Kozłów–Sędziszów and Tumlin–Skarżysko‑Kamienna. The work includes replacing tracks, traffic control systems and overhead lines, as well as constructing new platforms. The investment will increase line capacity, raise train speeds and shorten travel times, while also improving access to stations and stops, including for people with reduced mobility. Disruptions occur during the work: access to infrastructure is limited, some trains are replaced by bus services and others run on diverted routes.

Information for travellers

Before travelling, it is worth checking the timetables. Information about train services is available on noticeboards at stations and stops, online, including at https://portalpasazera.pl/ Carriers also provide detailed information about new connections and timetable changes on their websites. Train departures and arrivals are displayed on screens.
