The incident occurred on March 4, 2026, at around 2:50 p.m. The Jelenia Góra traffic police noticed a disturbing situation.
Officers:
The officers were driving behind a DAF truck with a trailer when clouds of smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle caught their attention. 🌫️
The police officers immediately stopped the truck and informed the driver of the danger. It turned out that one of the trailer’s rear wheels had caught fire, and the flames were already visible.🔥
👮♂️ The officers took action without hesitation. Using fire extinguishers carried on the police motorcycles, they began extinguishing the fire. To bring the flames under control more effectively, they also used water from a nearby stream. At the same time, they notified the fire service of the incident. 🚒
Thanks to the officers’ quick and decisive reaction, the fire was brought under control before the firefighters arrived. The firefighters then extinguished the smoldering elements and secured the vehicle.
The 26-year-old woman driving the truck, which was carrying rolls of paper, was unaware of the danger that had arisen while driving.
As the firefighters emphasized after the operation:
Had it not been for the officers’ immediate reaction, there would have been a real risk of the entire trailer and its cargo catching fire.
