A reader informed us today about the situation on Żeromski Street and also sent a photo illustrating the problem:

Please see what is happening on St. Żeromski Street in Bolesławiec at 7:00 in the morning. Are the public-order services unable to regulate traffic on the road? Do the employees of the military unit, as well as the staff of the hospital on Jeleniogórska Street, really have nowhere to park?

We have already covered the problem of cars parked near the Bolesławiec military unit several times. The number of cars is growing, while parking spaces are in short supply — residents living near the military unit are feeling the effects of this situation increasingly severely.

During the military's working hours, Artyleryjska Street and the intersections with Andersa, Konopnickiej and Zagłoby streets turn into crowded parking lots. Traffic can be difficult, and pedestrians squeeze between cars, often without maintaining the required space. As it turns out, Żeromski Street is now affected by a similar problem.

Cars are also parked on both sides of the street, making it difficult for, among others, MZK bus drivers, who are forced to weave between parked vehicles.

The military is expanding parking lots near Aleja Wojska Polskiego and Rzemieślnicza Street, but this is still not enough. Residents suggest opening a parking lot on the other side of the unit, from the direction of the city's bypass.

Councillor Sylwester Łasocha is intervening in the matter — he has submitted letters and met with the unit's command. KO councillors are calling for a parking lot to be opened on the opposite side of the unit.

Further expansion of the parking lot on Rzemieślnicza Street has been announced, although this requires arrangements with the Military Property Agency. If specific and swift decisions are not made, the area around the unit may become paralysed in terms of traffic, significantly hindering access for, among others, emergency services.
