On the application of the District Prosecutor in Bolesławiec, our court ordered the three-month pre-trial detention of a 42-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County. – The man is suspected of issuing criminal threats against his brother and his partner, as well as failing to comply with the court order prohibiting him from approaching the victims – reports Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.

It was established that on 30 July 2025, the perpetrator was convicted with final effect by the District Court in Bolesławiec of abusing his brother and his partner. The spokesperson said: – Among other measures, the court imposed a three-year ban on approaching the victims closer than 100 metres and on contacting them in person. It also ordered him to leave the premises he shared with family members.

On 24 December 2025, the suspect went to the victims, asking them to agree to his living in the house because he had nowhere to stay during the winter.

Prosecutor:

Taking pity on him, the two agreed to let the man stay, on condition that he behaved properly. However, on 7 and 15 February 2026, instead of showing them gratitude, the perpetrator once again started an argument during which he threatened to kill his brother and his partner and insulted them. His conduct gave the victims justified grounds to fear that he would carry out the threats, in view of his previous criminal record and increased aggression.

After being brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec, the suspect was charged. The spokesperson said: – He did not admit to the offences. He gave an explanation.

She added: – The offences with which he is charged carry a penalty of between 3 months and 5 years’ imprisonment.
