Due to the adverse weather situation, many people decided to stay home and did not go to work today. This is visible, among other places, in the city centre (e.g. at Piłsudski Square), where a large number of vacant parking spaces could be seen from the morning—something that rarely happens on a working day.
In contrast, the situation on residential estates is the opposite—the number of parked cars is greater than usual on a working day. This also confirms that many residents decided not to travel to work.
Pedestrian traffic in the city has also noticeably decreased—there are fewer people on the streets and pavements than usual. Everything is covered in ice. The few people who are out are walking along routes covered with sand. Road services have been working intensively since the night. Although the main roads are already passable, we advise drivers to exercise particular caution.
The services are appealing for caution and asking people to limit leaving home to the absolute minimum. If there is no urgent need, it is advisable to stay home and avoid travelling.
This is what the icy residential road from Kosiby Street towards Kleeberga and Starzyńskiego streets in Bolesławiec looked like on Thursday at 12:00... It is safer to walk on the lawns, although there is ice on them too...
