The incident occurred on January 16, 2026, on one section of the motorway. – During the operation, officers noticed a Kia vehicle traveling at excessive speed. After taking a measurement, it turned out that the 42-year-old driver was traveling 47 km/h faster than the applicable speed limits allowed – reports Junior Constable Kamil Szpatowski, press officer of the Złotoryja District Police Headquarters. – As it later turned out, this was not the driver’s only violation of the regulations.
During the inspection, the officers detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from the man. A breathalyzer test confirmed their suspicions—the driver was intoxicated, with more than 2 promille of alcohol in his system. In addition, after checking police databases, it came to light that the man had been issued a decision revoking his driving privileges.
Spokesperson: – The driver was immediately removed from traffic, and his vehicle was secured.
For exceeding the speed limit, the man was fined 1,000 zlotys and received 11 penalty points. Furthermore, he will face the court for his extremely irresponsible behavior. Driving despite a decision revoking his driving privileges and while intoxicated carries a penalty of up to 3 years in prison.
Police once again appeal to drivers to use common sense and obey the regulations: – Motorways and expressways, although designed for faster traffic, do not forgive mistakes. Excessive speed, alcohol and disregard for the law are a direct path to tragedy. The “Safe on Motorways and Expressways” operation will continue, and there will be no leniency for drivers breaking the law.
