Bolesławiec traffic officers stopped a car for inspection at night because it did not have a functioning dipped-beam headlight.

Two men were travelling in the car. The police report:

The driver was intoxicated; the test showed more than 2‰ of alcohol in his system. In addition, the 49-year-old from Legnica County did not have a driving licence.

It turned out that the passenger was in a similar condition and had clear difficulty staying on his feet.

The outcome? Both men were taken to the Bolesławiec Police unit, where they spent the night. The officers explain:

The driver was detained as the perpetrator of a crime and an offence, while the passenger was taken to the holding rooms for detained persons to sober up. His condition and the prevailing weather conditions could have posed a threat to his life or health, and it was not possible to place him in the care of another person.

The driver faces up to 3 years in prison.
