The incident occurred at 12:46 a.m. According to the surveillance camera footage, five men left The Pub and headed toward the central part of the market square. Their behavior indicated that they might have been under the influence of alcohol—they had trouble keeping their balance and walked unsteadily.
The men first approached the Christmas train and the Christmas tree set up in the market square. For a while, they took pictures there. Then two of them climbed directly inside the Christmas tree, where they stayed for several minutes. It is not known exactly what they were doing inside.
At the same time, two of the remaining men fell onto the snow and lay there for quite a while. The fifth member of the group documented the entire incident by taking pictures or recording videos.
After leaving the Christmas tree, the group headed toward another decoration—a cup with a teapot. One of the men tore the cup from its base, leaving it overturned. After this incident, they all walked away toward the Piast Gate.
The entire situation was noticed by an istotne.pl reader, who at that time was watching the view from our camera overlooking the market square. The police were notified of the incident. The case concerns the destruction of public property, and the surveillance recordings may help identify those responsible.
