On 2 January this year, an incident occurred in Rząsiny. – In the afternoon, the Lwówek command received a notification on a mobile phone about a road accident. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the geographical coordinates indicated by the system – reports junior aspirant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the Lwówek KPP.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officers were surprised to find that the vehicle which, according to the report, was supposed to be in the ditch was approximately 100 metres away.

Spokeswoman:

It turned out that the 32-year-old resident of Lwówek County, driving a Ford, lost control and ended up in the ditch. Wanting to remove the vehicle from the scene as quickly as possible, the man asked another person to have it towed away. Although the car was not on its wheels, it was pulled “on its roof”. The reason for the haste was the fact that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

A breathalyser test conducted by the police showed nearly 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his system. The man was detained and placed in a police cell.

After sobering up, the 32-year-old was charged, and he admitted to the offences. For driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated, he faces up to three years in prison.

The police once again appeal for reason and remind the public that driving under the influence of alcohol poses a serious threat to life and health – both of the driver and of other road users.
