The strike took place, but not in all Kaufland stores. The warning protest action was held, among other places, in stores in Dzierżoniów, Świdnica, Biłgoraj, Łowicz and Oświęcim.
We visited the Bolesławiec store before 1:00 p.m. There was no sign of a protest. Sales were proceeding as usual. The checkouts were open, both the self-service ones and those staffed by store employees. There was no strike at the Kaufland store in Jelenia Góra either. Kaufland stores in Wrocław were also operating normally.
The nationwide protest action planned at Kaufland stores was announced by the All-Poland Alliance of Trade Unions Konfederacja Pracy.
On behalf of employees, the trade unions are demanding an increase in base salaries of PLN 1,200 gross for every employee and respect for workers’ rights.
Meanwhile, Kaufland’s Press Office stated that:
On December 14, all Kaufland stores would be open and operate during their standard business hours.
and announced pay increases starting in the new year:
From January 2026, the salary for sales assistant/cashier and janitorial positions, including allowances, will range from PLN 5,300 to PLN 6,200 gross.
(...) From March 2026, employees in other positions in stores and logistics will receive pay increases.
