– A 26-year-old resident of Legnica, who left prison in April this year after serving nearly 2.5 years for theft, quickly returned to a life of crime – reports Senior Constable Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Press Section of the Wrocław Provincial Police Headquarters. – Officers established that over the past several months the man had committed a series of shoplifting offenses. His main loot consisted of sweets, but he also stole batteries and cross-line lasers. The losses were estimated at nearly PLN 7,000.
But he did not stop there. The spokeswoman:
Last week, the 26-year-old attacked an older man in the street. He demanded money from him and, when he heard a refusal, punched the senior citizen in the face. The victim fell to the ground, and the attacker took his pouch containing documents and PLN 400 in cash, then fled.
Thanks to the officers’ intensive work, they quickly established who was behind the robbery.
The 26-year-old was detained shortly after the incident, and the evidence collected allowed charges to be brought against him for robbery and shoplifting offenses committed under so-called recidivist conditions.
At the prosecutor’s request, the court remanded the aggressor in temporary custody. Since he is a repeat offender, he faces up to 22.5 years in prison. Moreover, the case is developing. Police are verifying whether the detainee may be connected to other crimes committed in Legnica.
