Bolesławiec police are appealing for caution regarding offers of quick earnings online. Another resident of the county fell victim to an investment scam, losing more than PLN 20,000. For several weeks, the criminals misled her, persuading her about supposed profits and the need to make additional payments.

How do scammers operate?

The scam began in a typical way—the woman clicked on an advertisement posted on a social media platform that encouraged users to trade on the stock market and promised quick winnings. Just two hours later, a woman calling herself a consultant phoned her, promising high profits and instructing her step by step on what to do.

The victim began depositing successive amounts, believing assurances of “guaranteed earnings.” During conversations with a so-called stock market analyst, she was told that she had to make another large deposit—PLN 15,000.

However, when she wanted to withdraw her money, she was told that she had to continue investing or pay another amount to “unlock the funds.” She was then subjected to an alleged verification process, which supposedly produced a negative result and made it impossible to withdraw the money. The result? The 70-year-old lost more than PLN 20,000.

Police appeal:

  • Do not click on suspicious advertisements promising quick profits.
  • Never invest under pressure or because of pressure from callers.
  • Do not provide remote access to your devices or share your login details.
  • Always verify information and consult your decisions with loved ones or professional advisers.
  • Remember—no legitimate investment company requires additional fees to withdraw your money.
  • Your caution is the best protection against fraud!
