Before the District Court in Legnica, a verdict was handed down in the case of two 21-year-old men who attacked an employee of a kebab establishment in the center of Głogów. The crime in question took place on July 29, 2025, at around 1:00 a.m.
– Jakub K., charged with an attack involving a machete and intent to cause the victim serious bodily harm, making threats and damaging property, was sentenced to an aggregate term of 3 years in prison. He was also ordered to pay compensation to the victim – PLN 7,000 and PLN 3,000, respectively – explains Liliana Łukasiewicz, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica.
As for Oliwier Ch. – for damaging property – he was sentenced to 5 months in prison.
That is not all. Both convicted men were also jointly ordered – for breaking the windows at the establishment – to repair the damage in the amount of PLN 12,000 for the benefit of the establishment’s owner.
Moreover, the court decided to continue applying pretrial detention to Jakub K.
Prosecutor’s Office on the sentence: too lenient
Investigators:
The prosecutor considered the sentence unjustified with regard to the aggregate sentence imposed on Jakub K. The prosecutor believes that the court could not apply extraordinary mitigation of the sentence to the above-mentioned defendant because of the allegation that he acted out of hooligan motives. The minimum aggregate sentence in such a case is 4 years and 7 months in prison. A request was made for the reasoning behind the ruling.
The verdict is not final.
