At the District Court in Przysucha, a verdict was issued in the case of a 52-year-old man who filed a false report, accusing the police officers who wanted to help him of misappropriating a wallet containing money.

The whole matter began in December 2023. Two officers from the Police Station in Wolanów, while on duty in the municipality, noticed a man sitting on the pavement beside a busy street. They stopped to check what was happening and whether he needed help, especially since sitting there posed a danger to himself and other road users.
It turned out that the man had been drinking alcohol. He told the officers that he was cold and needed to rest for a while because he still had some distance to travel before reaching home. The officers wanted to help: they contacted the man’s brother, then drove him home and handed him over to his family’s care.
The brother thanked the officers for ensuring that the man got home safely.
After the incident, the 52-year-old filed a criminal report, accusing the officers who had helped him, among other things, of misappropriating a wallet containing PLN 350 and a PLN 50 phone top-up card. He also falsely testified that the officers had wanted money from him for driving him home.

As a result, the man was convicted by the District Court in Przysucha for making unfounded accusations against the police officers.
The verdict
The court sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, and ordered him to pay compensation to the police officers he had falsely accused.
