In response to a motion by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra, the court ordered the temporary detention of a 19-year-old resident of Wrocław suspected of operating in an organized criminal group. The group was involved in fraud. An 83-year-old resident of Karkonosze County was allegedly the victim of one such scheme. – Under the pretext of paying for a life-saving vaccine for his daughter, the perpetrators demanded that the victim hand over money – explains Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, press spokesperson for the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.

However, the criminals did not succeed. The prosecutor: – The suspect was caught red-handed by Police officers on 18 November 2025, when he was waiting in the street in Przesieka for the victim, who had brought him money.

During procedural activities, investigators established that the same perpetrator had also committed a fraud in Wałbrzych on 31 October 2025, acting in a similar manner – jointly and in agreement with other people. Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska:

Under the pretext of paying bail for a daughter who had allegedly caused a road accident, the men extorted PLN 21,000 from the victim.

Questioned as a suspect, he confessed to the acts of which he was accused. He provided explanations.

He had not previously been convicted by a court. He faces up to 8 years in prison. The prosecutor’s office:
