As reported by the 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade in Świętoszów:

(...) the final training intake of the year for Voluntary Basic Military Service has begun.

The Homeland Defence Act introduced a new type of military service – voluntary basic military service. This form of military service is intended for all those who have never previously served in the military. It makes it possible to complete military training and, in the future, join the reserve forces or enlist in the professional army.

Until recently, people interested in military service could, for example – apart from studying at a military academy or taking an officer or non-commissioned officer course – apply for preparatory service. However, this last option was abolished by the Homeland Defence Act, in force since 23 April 2022. Voluntary basic military service replaced preparatory service as a new form of active service for volunteers. Applying for it is the first step towards being called up to serve in the Polish Armed Forces.
