👉 Jelenia Góra – November 14
This time, a 74-year-old resident answered a call from a man impersonating a prosecutor. He said that her granddaughter faced imprisonment and that, to avoid it, “bail” had to be paid. Unfortunately, acting under the influence of emotion, the woman handed the perpetrators nearly PLN 24,000.
Police:
❗ REMEMBER!
Telephone scams involve triggering strong emotions—fear, panic and haste. Criminals want you to act without thinking.
The police, prosecution service and other authorities NEVER ask you to hand over money or valuables, or to participate in “secret operations”‼️
🔒 How can you protect yourself?
✔️ End the call—call a loved one back and verify the information.
✔️ Do not give strangers money, jewelry or personal information.
✔️ Do not give in to pressure or intimidation.
✔️ If you have any suspicions, call 112 immediately.
✔️ Report suspicious situations on the National Safety Threats Map 🗺️.
Officers: – Dear residents—talk to your seniors. 🧓👵 They are the ones who most often become targets of scammers.
