On 8 November, the duty officer received a report from a woman who said that she had been approached by a man in the area of the new cemetery in Gryfów Śląski. – Holding an object resembling a knife, the perpetrator demanded money from her while threatening to kill her – reports senior sergeant Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – The woman kept her composure, fled the scene and immediately notified the Police.

A patrol of officers from the Gryfów station was dispatched to the scene immediately. Thanks to the information provided by the reporting woman, the officers spotted the suspected man near the scene shortly afterwards.

The 48-year-old resident of Lwówek County was arrested and taken to the police station. It turned out that he was intoxicated. After sobering up, he was charged with attempted robbery.

Investigators determined that the arrested man had committed a similar offence within the past five years, meaning that he will be held liable as a recidivist. At the prosecutor’s request, the District Court in Lwówek Śląski ordered three months of pre-trial detention for the suspect.

For attempted robbery using a dangerous weapon, the recidivist faces up to 12 years in prison.
