Bolesławiec traffic officers stopped a vehicle whose driver committed a serious offence. As the police department explains:

While driving a passenger vehicle in a built-up area, the 19-year-old ignored the speed limit and, where the limit was 40 km/h, drove at 91 km/h.

The result? Officers: – For violating traffic regulations, police officers suspended the driver's licence for three months. In addition, the resident of Bolesławiec County was fined PLN 1,500 and received 13 penalty points.

The officers stress:

Excessive speed is particularly dangerous in built-up areas, where there is increased traffic involving pedestrians, cyclists and other road users. Every speeding violation significantly shortens a driver's reaction time and extends the braking distance, which can lead to tragic accidents.

They add:

Let us remember that a driving licence is not a “ticket to freedom”; it is responsibility for yourself and others. The greatest absurdity is the phrase that newly qualified drivers unfortunately repeat most often: “I am in control of the car.” Let us remember that by slowing down, we give ourselves time to react—and reaction time means life.
