The Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters received reports concerning scams related to the purchase of heating fuel. Victims are left without coal and without their money:

  • A resident of Bolesławiec ordered eco-pea coal through a website and paid using BLIK. She did not receive the fuel, and all attempts to contact the company ended in failure. The woman lost over PLN 1,000.
  • A resident of Bolesławiec gmina was deceived in a similar way after ordering 5 tonnes of eco-pea coal. The victim was misled and lost nearly PLN 6,000.
  • Another report concerns a resident of Nowogrodziec gmina, who ordered 1 tonne of heating fuel and paid PLN 1,150.

How can you avoid being scammed?

Before making a payment:

  • check the website’s credibility—pay attention to the web address, reviews from other users and the seller’s contact details;
  • do not be guided solely by a low price—if an offer seems too good to be true, it may be a scam;
  • avoid making advance payments to unknown bank accounts;
  • use only trusted and reputable heating-fuel suppliers.

The officers conclude: – Remember—scammers often create professional-looking websites that disappear from the internet after receiving payment.
