On Wednesday, October 16, officers from the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec detained two drivers who should not have been behind the wheel at all. Unit:

Both men were subject to court-ordered driving bans, and one of them additionally was probably driving under the influence of narcotic substances.

The first detention took place during a routine traffic check conducted by officers from the district officers’ division of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec. Headquarters:

The officers stopped an Audi for inspection. After checking the 33-year-old resident of Bolesławiec in police databases, they found that he was subject to a current court-ordered ban on driving motor vehicles.

That was not the end of the matter. The officers became suspicious that the man might be under the influence of psychotropic substances. Police: “A saliva test confirmed their suspicions—the result was positive. The driver was taken to a medical facility, where blood was drawn for further laboratory testing. Those tests will ultimately show what substances were present in his system.

On the same day, officers from the aforementioned division also stopped a Peugeot for inspection. At the wheel was a 39-year-old resident of Bolesławiec commune who, as it turned out, was subject to two active court-ordered driving bans.

Both men will now face charges for failing to comply with driving bans imposed by the court, an offense punishable by up to five years in prison. As for the 33-year-old, the laboratory test results will determine whether he faces any additional charges.
