The Bolesławiec District Prosecutor’s Office conducted proceedings against Wojciech M., suspected of abusing the trust placed in him by a minor—which arose from the fact that he was the minor’s football coach and a specialist in football—by inviting the victim to his place of residence and then causing him to submit to other sexual acts. (An act under Article 199 § 3 of the Criminal Code). He was also suspected of inducing the minor to consume alcohol repeatedly, thereby causing him to become intoxicated (Article 208 of the Criminal Code).
On 27 February 2025, the Bolesławiec District Court issued its verdict. It found the defendant guilty of the acts charged and imposed an aggregate sentence of 10 months’ imprisonment, conditionally suspended for a probation period of 3 years.
In addition, the court imposed a 3-year ban on contacting or approaching the victim, as well as a 3-year ban on holding any positions, practising any professions or engaging in any activities related to the upbringing or education of minors or caring for them.
The defendant appealed the ruling to the Jelenia Góra Regional Court. The latter upheld the Bolesławiec court’s verdict in its entirety.
This is the end of the case. The coach has now been convicted in a final judgment.
