Last Tuesday, October 7 this year, officers from the Independent Police Prevention Subunit in Legnica (SPPP) conducted intensified checks in Bolesławiec County. The Press Section of the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław reported: “During the activities carried out in Nowogrodziec, officers noticed two men standing beside a parked passenger car. Upon seeing the uniformed police officers, the men clearly attempted to hurry away from the scene. On this basis, the officers proceeded to check their identities.
During the initial questioning, one of the men—a 40-year-old—admitted that he had a small amount of marijuana on him. The officers found the stated quantity of 0.11 grams inside a pouch in the man’s possession.
Officers:
Perhaps the 40-year-old thought that the officers would arrest him and then finish carrying out their further official duties. However, nothing could be further from the truth, as the experienced officers’ attention was drawn to the second man. Although during the initial questioning the man initially denied having any prohibited substances on him, the police focused their attention on the vehicle beside which he was standing.
The earlier suspicions were confirmed, as inside the vehicle the officers found a zip-lock bag containing dried plant material. The test also confirmed that the substance was nothing other than marijuana, weighing more than 145 grams. On this basis, the 37-year-old was arrested.
The evidence gathered enabled charges of drug possession to be brought against the pair. This offence is punishable by up to 3 and 10 years’ imprisonment, respectively.
Officers sum up: “Thanks to the police officers’ commitment and efficient actions, more people will face justice for drug-related offences. This is also proof that effective work produces results, including in combating drug crime.
