A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, October 1, at approximately 10:55 a.m. in Błonie (Środa County). – According to the findings made so far, the 32-year-old motorcyclist – as a result of failing to adjust his speed to the road conditions – lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree – reports Senior Staff Sergeant Łukasz Porębski of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
He adds: – Unfortunately, the resuscitation attempt did not restore the man’s vital functions.
The police and prosecutor’s office are investigating the causes and circumstances of the incident. Officers say:
Every season requires drivers to properly prepare their vehicles for the road and adapt their driving style to the prevailing conditions. In autumn, when the weather can be changeable, we should be especially careful. Road conditions very often change throughout the day – from a cool morning to a sunny afternoon, and from a dry to a wet and slippery surface.
They add:
This is also a time when visibility on the road may be significantly reduced due to heavy rain, fog or nightfall coming earlier. Such daily changes have a major impact on the safety of road users, so we remind you to reduce your speed, change your driving technique and maintain a safe distance from the vehicles ahead. It should also be remembered that the speed limit does not always mean a safe speed – it should always be adapted to the situation currently occurring on the road.
We appeal for careful and responsible driving, as well as compliance with several safety rules:
- Follow the speed limits
- Adjust your speed to the road conditions – wet leaves and damp asphalt significantly increase braking distance
- Keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead – sudden braking can be very dangerous
- Avoid sudden manoeuvres, especially on bends
- Ensure good visibility – wear reflective elements – remember that it gets dark quickly in autumn
- Check the condition of your tyres – proper pressure and tread are key to safe driving in difficult conditions.
