Officers from the Department for Combating Property Crime arrested a 29-year-old resident of Legnica suspected of stealing a cross from the roof of a Greek Catholic church. – The theft took place last Saturday – explains Asp. Anna Tersa from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica. – From the very beginning, determining and arresting the person responsible for this act was a priority for the police officers. Thanks to intensive investigative work, thorough analysis and the officers’ decisive action, the perpetrator was arrested yesterday.
The man cut the cross into pieces and hid it in bushes on the outskirts of the city. The cross was secured by the officers.
During a search of his apartment, officers also recovered other items originating from break-ins and thefts committed in Legnica. The 29-year-old was placed in a police cell.
