On September 1, 2025, Bolesławiec County, in cooperation with the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, organized ceremonies commemorating the 86th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II. The observances took place at the Monument to the Centenary of Regaining Independence, where wreaths were laid and candles were lit.

Representatives of the local authorities, school students, flag-bearing units and county residents took part in the event. Tribute was paid to all the victims of the conflict – soldiers, civilians and those who fought for a free Poland.

During the ceremony, Bolesławiec County Head Tomasz Gabrysiak spoke, emphasizing that remembering the war and its victims is our shared responsibility. – We meet here to remind ourselves and younger generations that the freedom we live in today was paid for with the suffering and sacrifice of millions of people. Our task is to preserve this memory and care for the peace and security of our Homeland – the County Head said.
