The motive for the crime was probably unrequited love. Łukasz, from Bolesławiec, and the murdered 22-year-old student from Głogów were a couple. They met while studying at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The woman had recently broken up with him.
On the afternoon of 20 April, police received a report that a woman with neck wounds had been found in the attic of a tenement building in Wrocław’s Rakowiec district. She had been stabbed three times. Łukasz R. himself reported the incident. He claimed that he had only found his acquaintance. After questioning him and gathering evidence, police concluded that he might in fact be the killer.
The man has already been charged in the case. By court decision, he was remanded in custody for three months. He faces up to 25 years in prison or life imprisonment.
