The incident occurred on October 11, 2026, after 2:00 p.m. The duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica received a report concerning a domestic dispute in one of the city’s apartments.
According to the information received, during an argument, an intoxicated man stabbed his wife in the leg with a knife. Her injuries proved fatal.
The man fled but was quickly arrested
After the incident, the 58-year-old left the scene. Legnica police officers began efforts to establish his whereabouts and arrest him.
As a result of their efforts, officers quickly located the man. After his arrest, he was placed in a detention facility for arrested persons.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the suspect was charged with causing serious bodily harm resulting in the death of the victim.
The 58-year-old will spend the next three months in custody
Due to the nature and circumstances of the case, the prosecutor asked the court to order temporary detention for the suspect.
The court granted the request and decided that the man would spend the next three months in custody.
For the alleged offense, the 58-year-old faces a prison sentence of no less than five years or life imprisonment.
