The incident occurred during the night of October 8–9, 2026, in an apartment in Jelenia Góra. Two men and a woman were there, drinking alcohol together.
At one point, an altercation broke out between the men. According to police findings, the 44-year-old beat his acquaintance. The injuries suffered by the 43-year-old proved fatal.
After the incident, the suspect left the apartment.
Police detained the 44-year-old
The duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra received a report of the crime on October 9, after 3 p.m. Officers who arrived at the indicated address confirmed the death of the 43-year-old man.
The 44-year-old resident of the aforementioned city was detained later that same day. A test showed that the man had a blood alcohol level of 3.7 per mille.
Murder charge and three months in custody
The evidence collected made it possible to charge the 44-year-old with murder. On October 11, 2026, the District Court in Jelenia Góra, at the prosecutor’s request, ordered the suspect’s temporary detention for three months.
The man faces up to life imprisonment for the alleged offense.
