On August 12, during a speed check in Parzyce, officers from the Bolesławiec traffic police stopped the driver of a Citroën for inspection. The reason? A significant breach of the speed limit.
Bolesławiec police: – The 34-year-old was driving at 83 km/h in a built-up area. That was not all. During the inspection, the officers became suspicious about the driver’s sobriety – a distinct smell of alcohol was noticeable on his breath.
Their suspicions were confirmed. A breathalyser test showed nearly 1 per mille of alcohol in the exhaled air. The man was detained and taken to the Bolesławiec police unit.
The outcome? Police:
The following day, the court heard the case under expedited proceedings. The driver – the perpetrator of a road crime and an offence – was sentenced to a PLN 2,000 fine, a three-year driving ban, and an obligation to pay PLN 5,000 to the Fund for Assistance to Victims and Post-Penitentiary Assistance.
