During a night weekend patrol, police officers from Nowogrodziec stopped the driver of a Škoda passenger car for inspection. The reason? A cracked rear light cover. The Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters: “However, after a detailed inspection of the vehicle and the driver himself, it turned out that the damaged part of the light was the least of the young driver’s problems.

During their conversation with the man, the officers noticed that his pupils were dilated, so they decided to conduct a saliva test using a drug test kit. The officers: “The test result confirmed the officers’ suspicions, as it showed the presence of an intoxicating substance.

A check of police databases also showed that the 26-year-old resident of Nowogrodziec municipality did not have a driving licence, and that the car he was driving on a public road did not have a valid technical inspection.

The outcome? The court will decide the penalty for the perpetrator of the crime and road-traffic offences. The police headquarters: “Driving a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicating substance that has an effect similar to alcohol is punishable by up to 3 years in prison.
