The District Prosecutor’s Office in Lwówek Śląski is conducting an investigation against three men suspected of acting in an organized criminal group and defrauding a resident of Mirsk using the “police officer” method. – The investigation findings show that during the night of July 23–24, 2025, the perpetrators, posing as police officers, contacted the victim by telephone and informed her that her daughter and son-in-law had been involved in a serious road accident and urgently needed money – reports Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, press spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra. – At around 3:00 a.m., a young man came to her apartment, and the woman handed him PLN 90,000

Police officers from Mirsk identified and then, together with officers from the County Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski, arrested three perpetrators of the crime. The prosecutor:

As a result of searches of the residential and farm premises they occupied, officers found and secured PLN 13,890, 9.03 grams of cannabis herb other than industrial hemp, several mobile phones of various brands, SIM cards, and confirmations of transfers to foreign bank accounts.

After being brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lwówek Śląski, the suspects were charged with participating in an organized criminal group aimed at committing fraud and causing the victim to make an unfavorable disposition of her property.

Two of them were also charged with possessing marijuana. The men face up to eight years in prison.

The suspects did not plead guilty to the offenses they were accused of committing. They provided explanations. At the request of the District Prosecutor in Lwówek Śląski, the local court ordered the suspects to be held in temporary custody for three months.

The arrested individuals are residents of Wrocław aged 19, 22, and 24. The case is developing. Actions are underway to arrest the remaining members of the organized criminal group.
