Border guards: – Temporary border checks conducted by officers of the Nadodrze Border Guard Regional Unit have been under way on the Polish-German border for two weeks. The operations are carried out in cooperation with the police, Military Gendarmerie, Territorial Defence Forces and other services. Joint operations by the services enable effective control of border traffic while ensuring the safety of residents of border regions and people crossing the border.

As part of the temporary border checks in the area under the operational responsibility of the Nadodrze Border Guard Regional Unit (Lubusz and Lower Silesian Voivodeships), nearly 48,000 people and 23,000 vehicles were checked during the first two weeks. Due to a lack of documents authorising them to cross the border, 56 foreign nationals were refused entry to Poland—including citizens of Afghanistan, Iraq, Turkey, Syria, Russia, Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Moldova.

In addition, during operations in the border zone, 46 foreign nationals were detained for attempting to cross the border in violation of the regulations; the vast majority were Afghans.

Officers:

We are also continuing the fight against organisers of illegal migration. Last week (14–20 July), three people—two Poles and a Ukrainian—were detained for assisting illegal border crossings. The Ukrainian national admitted to the charges brought against him and voluntarily accepted a suspended six-month prison sentence. In addition, the foreign national was ordered to return with immediate effect and was issued a five-year ban on entry to the Schengen Area. After the proceedings concluded, the Ukrainian citizen was escorted to the state border and handed over to the Ukrainian side.
