The incident occurred on Friday afternoon in Jerzmanice-Zdrój. – The driver of an Audi caused a collision with another car and then attempted to leave the scene – reports asp. szt. Monika Kaleta of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – The entire situation was observed by an officer of the County Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski, asp. szt. Krzysztof Król, who was off duty at the time.

He adds: – Seeing the danger and the driver’s suspicious behavior, the officer reacted immediately. Together with another driver, he set off in pursuit of the Audi as it drove away.

After a short pursuit, the fleeing vehicle left the road and stopped in a roadside ditch. Without hesitation, the men apprehended the driver and called a patrol of the Złotoryja Police to the scene.

It turned out that the 32-year-old resident of Lubań County was intoxicated. A breathalyzer test showed 1.6 per mille of alcohol in his system. It was also established that the man did not have a driving licence.

The spokesperson says: – Thanks to the swift and decisive response of our colleague and the other driver, a potentially dangerous situation was quickly brought under control, and the intoxicated driver did not have time to get away and pose a further threat to other road users. He will now face charges for multiple offences before the court.
