Legnica traffic police were patrolling a section of the A4 motorway. – At around 5:00 p.m., their attention was drawn to a Citroën that was traveling at an unnaturally low speed and looked like... an uncertain road user – reports Commissioner Jagoda Ekiert, press officer for the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica.
The officers reacted immediately: they used light and sound signals to order the driver to stop. However, he ignored the instructions and continued driving. The police therefore took action – they cut him off, safely slowed the traffic, and stopped the vehicle in an emergency bay.
Spokesperson:
The very first moments of contact with the driver left no doubt: the smell of alcohol and unsteady behavior indicated intoxication. The test confirmed the suspicions: more than 1.2 mg/l of alcohol in the exhaled air.
The vehicle was removed from the road, and its registration certificate was seized due to technical damage, including a smashed lamp and a dented bumper. The officers also secured the driver’s license.
The intoxicated driver was taken to the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica. He spent the night in police custody. He will soon be charged. This type of offense is punishable by up to three years in prison.
