The new pools on Spacerowa Street have attracted crowds eager for entertainment and water activities during the hot weather. Unfortunately, no one told those wishing to use the new attraction that it would be best to walk to the pools, or alternatively arrive by bicycle, scooter or free public transport.

Anyone who drives there will get stuck in the bottleneck on narrow Spacerowa Street, may not find a parking space and, if they park on the grass in front of the facility, may return with a fine. The question is whether the water park is worth the inconvenience: the overcrowded car park, traffic jams on Spacerowa Street and the overcrowded facility.

A reader raised the issue of the overcrowded facility on Spacerowa Street

At present, only one municipal pool complex is open, on Spacerowa Street. Although it is good that the city provides a place to relax on hot days, the extent of overcrowding at this facility is concerning.

The car parks are completely full, traffic chaos is developing around them, and at the facility itself there is literally no room to lay out a towel peacefully. Despite this, tickets are still being sold without limits, further worsening the crowding and discomfort of visitors.

In this situation, it is impossible not to ask: what is the point of keeping the second pool complex, “Leśny Potok”, closed? The facility stands unused, even though opening it would significantly relieve Spacerowa, improve residents’ leisure experience and increase access to summer attractions in our city.

At present, it looks as though residents have been given one option but had another taken away—in the end, not everyone can use what was supposed to be available to all.

After all, this is about recreation for everyone, not just those who manage to arrive earliest or “push through” the crowd. I hope that, through your editorial team, it will be possible to raise this issue and encourage the relevant authorities to reflect on residents’ real needs.

We have also sent a question to the Municipal Police in Bolesławiec asking whether they issue fines for parking on the grass. We are waiting for a response.
