The theft of an Audi worth nearly PLN 35,000 took place during the night of March 25–26 in the Nowogrodziec municipality. Less than an hour after the theft was reported, police officers from Bolesławiec stopped a vehicle for a traffic check. It was being driven by a 26-year-old woman from Zgorzelec County. Behind her—in a car stolen several dozen minutes earlier—was a 33-year-old man from Zgorzelec. When the woman was stopped for inspection, the man abandoned the Audi and fled.
In the 26-year-old woman’s car, officers found tools that could have been used to steal vehicles. The woman was remanded in custody for two months, while her accomplice was arrested by German police. It turned out that the 33-year-old had repeatedly been in conflict with the law. Both detainees face up to 10 years in prison.
The Audi was returned to its rightful owner.
