We received information that in January this year, an employee of Józef Piłsudski Primary School in Nowa Wieś and, at the same time, a councillor of the Nowogrodziec City Council violated the bodily integrity of one of the students. We asked the school mentioned about the matter.
The school’s headteacher Karolina Jackowska replied to us as follows
(…) I inform you that the incident about which you inquired did indeed take place at the school, with the difference being that the student was not “pulled by the ears”, but was grabbed by the ear by a non-teaching employee.
As the school’s headteacher, I took action within my powers. After investigating the matter, the employee was given a disciplinary penalty in accordance with Article 108 of the Labour Code.
It was an isolated incident on the school premises.
The headteacher added:
The student was provided with psychological and pedagogical support, which is routine action in such situations, and the matter was discussed with the child’s parent.
The parent is making no further claims against the school, and the matter is considered closed.
As we have established, the non-teaching employee and councillor reacted to the student kicking a locker.
The matter resurfaced during Tuesday’s session of the Nowogrodziec City Council. The municipality’s mayor Joanna Świder addressed the councillor in question:
(…) I have to ask you, you are a public figure. I received such an inquiry and I am asking you to explain the matter, very briefly. Were you involved in a matter that may bear the hallmarks of violating a child’s bodily integrity at school? Would you like to tell us anything here? Did such a thing take place, did it take place at school, or did it concern some child? (…) I received such a question, so I would also like to have information coming directly from you.
The councillor replied that such a situation had indeed taken place.
Antonina Szelechowicz, chairwoman of the Nowogrodziec City Council, joined the exchange between the local government officials and stated that it was the councillor’s matter and the “work director’s” matter.
However, this did not end the discussion. The councillor also decided to ask the mayor a question:
I have a question for you: is criminal proceedings being conducted against you? Do you know anything about it? Against you and the headteacher?
To this, the municipality’s mayor replied that they were not.
There is more to the matter. On 7 May, a post was published on the tellingly named social-media profile Kłamstwa współpracy i doświadczenia reading as follows:
We are not going to call this an “incident”. It is a scandal. A child’s bodily integrity was violated at the Primary School in Nowa Wieś. The perpetrator was a school employee—a person connected with local politics, a councillor from the “Współpraca i Doświadczenie” club.
The school’s headteacher confirmed that the incident had occurred. There is therefore no question of any ambiguity or media manipulation—we have confirmation from the person managing the institution.
Fact 1: The injured child is the son of this councillor’s political rival from the previous local-government elections.
Fact 2: Although the school claims that the incident was a one-off and that disciplinary measures were applied in accordance with procedure, the child’s mother referred the matter to court.
Fact 3: The councillor’s club was informed. Zero reaction.
As we have established, the case has gone to court. We will return to the subject.
