– We would all like to travel as safely as possible, especially when travelling with people close to us. That is why Lower Silesian police officers, in addition to their ongoing operations and preventive campaigns, continually remind drivers that excessive speed remains one of the main causes of road incidents with tragic consequences – says asp. szt. Łukasz Dutkowiak, press officer of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – There can therefore be no leniency for people who fail to comply with speed limits—especially in built-up areas or on expressways, where the consequences of such behaviour can be very serious and irreversible.

He adds: – Such situations do occur, however, and police officers identify almost every day people whose irresponsible behaviour endangers others. This was also the case during the May holiday weekend. The video recorder in the patrol car of the special SPEED group from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław recorded the actions of the driver of a Ford Mustang, who was driving on the A4 motorway.

He explains: – The journey could have ended tragically, because the driver was speeding at 203 km/h, while under the regulations he should not have exceeded 110 km/h at that location.

Fortunately, he was stopped in time by police officers, and no serious incident involving him occurred. The 36-year-old received, in addition to a PLN 2,500 fine, 15 penalty points.

Officers:

Let us remember that regardless of where we are going and how much time we have, we must not lack common sense and caution on the road, as they are the foundation of every safe journey. It is better to reach your destination a few minutes later, but safely.
