The District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra has filed an indictment with the local Regional Court against a 17-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra, accusing him of murdering a 24-year-old man. – The investigation established that on November 8, 2024, in the evening, in Jelenia Góra-Sobieszów, the 17-year-old perpetrator went to the victim’s home in his absence and decided to wait for him there. When the victim returned home, a fight broke out between the men, during which the accused inflicted more than 40 cuts and stab wounds with sharp instruments to his head, face, neck and forearms – says Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, press spokesperson for the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.

The injuries caused massive external bleeding and resulted in the victim’s death. The perpetrator fled.

Prosecutor: – He went to a friend’s house, where his 17-year-old female friend was also staying. They helped him wash himself. They also gave him a change of clothes because his hands and clothing were stained with blood.

Although the friends knew what had happened, they did not notify the police. Instead, they informed the accused’s mother, who took him home. Only there did the accused contact the police himself. He was arrested.

Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska: – After being brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra, the perpetrator was charged with murder. The act is classified under Article 148 § 2, point 1 of the Criminal Code and is punishable by no less than 10 years’ imprisonment or life imprisonment.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the crime with which he was charged. He gave explanations.

At the request of the District Prosecutor in Jelenia Góra, the court ordered the teenager’s pre-trial detention, which is still in effect.

During the investigation, expert psychiatrists were appointed. They determined that the accused was neither mentally ill nor intellectually disabled. He was also not dependent on psychotropic substances or alcohol and was fully legally responsible at the time of the alleged crime.

In addition to the perpetrator, two other people connected with the incident were also charged. They are a 17-year-old girl and a 48-year-old man. The prosecutor charged these individuals with the crime of helping the offender, that is, obstructing criminal proceedings by erasing traces in order to help the perpetrator avoid criminal liability.

The accused teenager’s friends, questioned as suspects, admitted to committing the offense with which they were charged and gave explanations. They face up to five years in prison for this crime. The prosecutor applied non-custodial preventive measures: police supervision, a ban on leaving the country and a ban on contacting each other.

None of the accused had previously been convicted.
