The incident took place on April 14, in the afternoon, in Krzyżowa. – A resident of Bolesławiec County traveling on one of the roads in Gromadka municipality noticed a vehicle driving from one edge of the road to the other. Suspecting that the driver might be under the influence of alcohol, the informant took advantage of the vehicle stopping and took the keys from the man, who had a distinctive smell of alcohol – reports Senior Aspirant Aleksandra Pieprzycka of the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
The intervening county resident notified the emergency services and gave the police all the information about the citizen's arrest and the circumstances of the incident. The spokeswoman: – A sobriety test of the 49-year-old Ukrainian citizen showed nearly 3‰ of alcohol in his system.
The suspect was arrested and, under an expedited procedure, brought before the District Court in Bolesławiec, where he received his sentence. Among other things, the foreign national was given a three-year ban on driving motor vehicles and ordered to pay PLN 5,000 to the Fund for Assistance to Victims and Post-Penitentiary Assistance. The court also ordered the forfeiture of the vehicle.
