Police officers from Złotoryja, while serving on a section of the A4 motorway, stopped a passenger car for a traffic check. – The reason for taking action was exceeding the speed limit by 70 km/h. In a place where the speed limit was 110 km/h, the 51-year-old was driving at 180 km/h – explains Senior Sergeant Łukasz Porębski from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – However, the traffic offense was only the beginning of his problems.
He adds: – During the proceedings, the experienced officers smelled alcohol on the driver, a resident of Bolesławiec County. Their suspicions proved correct. The measuring device detected nearly 0.2 per mille of alcohol in his exhaled breath. In other words, under the applicable regulations, the 51-year-old was driving after consuming alcohol.
The result? Our local resident received a PLN 2,000 fine and 14 penalty points. Spokesperson: – As for the other offense, the man will soon appear before the court.
That was not the end. On April 2, Bolesławiec police officers stopped for inspection a driver who was speeding toward the border at more than 210 km/h. Senior Sergeant Łukasz Porębski:
A 41-year-old resident of Lwówek County was behind the wheel. A check of police databases showed that the driver had previously been fined for speeding. Therefore, this time, as a repeat traffic offender, the police fined the 41-year-old PLN 5,000 and issued 15 penalty points.
Spokesperson: – Under the applicable regulations, a vehicle driver must travel at a speed that ensures control of the vehicle, taking into account the conditions in which traffic is taking place, particularly the terrain, the condition and visibility of the road, the condition and load of the vehicle, weather conditions, and traffic intensity.
He adds: – Every driver should also take into account other factors, such as driving skills and experience, stress, fatigue, and medications taken.
