One of the items on the agenda of the March session of the Bolesławiec County Council was a vote on a draft resolution concerning the granting of a specific-purpose grant to the Municipality of Bolesławiec. The grant amounts to PLN 50,000 and is intended to fund the operation of the Local Passport Office in Bolesławiec. The justification for the document states:
The specific-purpose grant provided by Bolesławiec County will contribute to increasing the availability of public services provided by the Local Passport Office to residents of the county.
The office explains:
The Municipality of Bolesławiec entered into an agreement with the Voivode of Lower Silesia under which the parties expressed their intention for a Local Passport Office to operate within the Municipality of Bolesławiec. The purpose of the Office is to accept passport applications and issue passports. Under the aforementioned agreement, the Municipality of Bolesławiec undertook, among other things, to provide administrative and office support for the Office.
Due to the much greater-than-forecast interest among residents of Bolesławiec County in obtaining passports, the Municipality of Bolesławiec, in order to streamline the Office’s work and ensure optimal service for county residents, asked Bolesławiec County to co-finance this activity.
And concludes:
The grant provided by the County will be spent on the portion of the Office’s operating costs which, under the agreement, is the responsibility of the Municipality of Bolesławiec. Pursuant to Section 48 of the Act of 1 October 2024 on the revenues of local government units, a local government unit may grant funding to other local government units to co-finance tasks carried out by them.
The amount of co-financing is determined by resolution of the governing body of the local government unit granting the funds. Following the adoption of the resolution in question by the Bolesławiec County Council, an agreement will be concluded between the Municipality of Bolesławiec and Bolesławiec County.
The councillors adopted the resolution unanimously: 15 voted in favour.
