Legnica traffic officers spotted an Audi that was in poor technical condition. Wanting to stop the driver for a roadside check, the officers signalled for him to pull over, but the driver ignored their orders. What is more, he accelerated sharply and began to flee.
Police:
During the chase, the driver repeatedly violated traffic regulations, creating a danger for other road users. At the intersection of Jaworzyńska and Nowodworska Streets, he drove through a red light while continuing to flee.
At one point, the man drove onto the pavement and then entered floodplains, abandoned the vehicle near allotment gardens and continued fleeing on foot. Police officers went after him. After several minutes, the man was found hiding in bushes on one of the plots.
The arrested man initially provided false personal details. Investigators: – After verification in police systems, it was established that he was a 24-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County who was wanted to serve a prison sentence totalling 2 years and 2 months. In addition, he was subject to a ban on driving motor vehicles. A drug test confirmed that the young man was under the influence of intoxicating substances.
That was not the end of it. Police officers found items in the arrested man’s vehicle that may have come from a shoplifting incident. The 24-year-old admitted that he had stolen them from one of the shops in Legnica.
A forensic investigation team was called to the scene and secured the vehicle and other evidence. The arrested man was taken to the Municipal Police Headquarters and placed in police custody.
Officers conclude:
Thanks to the effective actions of Legnica officers, a person whose behaviour posed a threat to the life and health of others was arrested. Once again, police officers have proved that they are ready to take action at the highest level, safeguarding the safety of residents of Legnica and Legnica County.
