As reported by the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters: – There are involuntary reflexes that are stronger than we are. It can confidently be said that, for officers, such a reflex is an immediate response to seeing an unusual or dangerous situation. This is regardless of whether it occurs while they are on duty or after their shift has ended.

Officers of the Independent Police Prevention Subunit (SPPP) in Legnica demonstrated such a reflex. On 3 January this year, they were returning from their place of duty when, in Bolesławiec County, they spotted a passenger Mercedes that had overturned. The car ended up in a ditch, with two people inside. The Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters duty officer was immediately informed of the incident.

Senior Aspirant Łukasz Porębski of the Wrocław Provincial Police Headquarters:

At the same time, the officers established coherent contact with the injured 75-year-old man, who complained of breathing problems. Unfortunately, the passenger’s injuries were more serious. During the rescue operation, the officers removed both injured people from inside the vehicle and placed them on spinal boards because of their injuries, where they remained until medical personnel arrived.

He adds:

During the actions carried out, the officers determined that, before they arrived at the scene, a woman who had been a passenger had managed to get out of the vehicle on her own. However, during the rescue operation, she was in the vehicle of a witness to the entire incident. Consequently, the injured woman was also provided with medical assistance.

And adds: – Unfortunately, preliminary findings made at the scene indicated that the road accident had occurred because the driver of the passenger Mercedes had failed to exercise particular caution while overtaking.
