The incident occurred in December last year. – Officers from the Jawor County Police Headquarters were notified of damage to the façade of the local hospital – reports Commissioner Przemysław Ratajczyk from the Wrocław Provincial Police Headquarters. – As it turned out, someone had spray-painted a heart and inscriptions on the building’s wall using green paint. The damage was estimated at 1,500 zlotys.
He adds: – The case was taken up by criminal investigators, who first secured surveillance footage. The vandal can be seen in the film as clearly as day, painting a heart with green spray paint and adding the inscription “N+K FOREVER” to it.
Thanks to the footage, the investigators quickly tracked down the lovestruck “artist.” He turned out to be a 28-year-old resident of Jawor, well known to Jawor’s law enforcement officers.
On January 15, the vandal was arrested and charged with destruction of property. The commissioner said:
In his statement, he explained that his actions had been driven by his great love for a girl who was staying at the Jawor hospital at the time. The suspect wanted to visit her, but because it was late—the time was approaching midnight—the hospital staff refused to let him visit. Desperate and overcome with emotion, he decided to express his feelings in an unusual way.
As the 28-year-old is a recidivist, he could face up to 7.5 years in prison. He will also have to cover the costs of repairing the damage.
Police remind the public: – Although love can lead to extraordinary deeds, feelings should not be expressed in a way that violates the law or causes damage. We appeal for responsibility and respect for public space.
